the theme of your story

Hellooo! How are you?!

Today I will be talking about the theme of your story. Now what exactly is the theme of a story? It is basically the deep meaning of your story or popularly known as the lesson to be learned. Below I have included some simple tips to get you started with your theme.

- This does not need to be profound.

- It can be as simple as "crime doesn't pay".

*Now remember, write your story first and then trust your inner artist to find the deep theme hiding within your story.*

the plot of your story

Hellooooo! How are you?!

Today I will be talking about the plot of your story.

What exactly is the plot? Well, it is the series of actions your characters take to move the story forwards.

This contains four layers:

highest layer - A single sentence that summarizes the story.

first middle layer - A major disaster that happens which forces the lead character to commit to the rest of the story.

second middle layer - Also known as the scene, this is several pages of action that takes place at a single place and time.

lowest layer - This includes all of the paragraphs of the story.

*I hope this was helpful to you all. If you have any questions feel free to leave me a comment.*

the characters of your story

Hellooooo! how are you?!

Today I will be talking about the characters in your story.

What exactly does the word characters mean? Hmmmm, well it's the players on the stage of your story of course! Each character comes with a long detailed past; which is also known as their back story.

Every character you have is driven in some direction be it good or bad. Also you don't want what they call 2d characters that just spells out boring all over the place! So don't forget to give those characters of yours of dimension, as in 3d dimension!

*remember you can't have conflict until you have some characters*

Today I am going to be talking about the story world of your book! When creating a proper story world or setting within your book you should include the fallowing:

-the geography, including national boundaries

-the races of the people, other intelligent beings, plants, and animals

-political, economical, religious, and social structures

-foods, drinks, drugs

-languages, entertainment methods, sexual rules and roles

Now what exactly is the story world? Story world is the universe or world where the story takes place. Also called the setting of your story.

setting your goals

Hellooooo! How are you?!

Today I will be talking about setting your goals as a writer! Yay! Below is an exercise that you can do to help you set your goal before you set off on your journey to become a successful writer.

Step 1) Take a piece of paper and write down these words:

"I'm going to write a novel and get it published. I'm going to do it because writing a novel is worthwhile and because I have the talent to do it."

Step 2) Put the date and your signature at the bottom and hang it where you can see it everyday.

*this can also help motivate you when you get into a writing slump and develop lack of confidence within yourself.*

the three c's in writing

Hellooo! How are you?!

Today I will be explaining the three c's in writing fiction.

1 ) character

2) contrast

3) conflict

Character:

You must have several strong characters within your story. They must be believable and have recognizable personality traits and mannerisms.

Contrast: (examples)

light/dark

happiness/tears

love/anger

summer/ winter

slow reflective parts of a story/fast reflective parts of a story

Conflict:

You must have one or more of these and have them almost always resolve at the end of the story.

picking a label for your book

Hello all! Today I will be talking about picking a label for your book.

Why have labels? Well they make two kinds of distinctions. The first one is the genre of the book. Secondly it defines your target audience.
Now there are different types of genres to choose from.
- romance
- thriller
- mystery / crime
- science fiction
- fantasy
- horror
- general/ literary
- inspirational
- children
- young adult
- adult
There must be one primary category for your book. You can mix categories as well, but one category must remain dominant.
Why have a dominant category? Well the dominant category determines where the book store or library chooses to shelf your book.

picking your target audience

Hello all! Today I will be talking about picking your target audience.

- think about if you are going to write for a specific gender
- writing for a certain age
how old are they
each age has different reading habits
each age group responds differently to cover art, tittles, back cover
knowing the age group also helps to build a marketing plan for your book
Exercise (optional)
write a paragraph describing your ideal reader as precisely as you can. Include : age, gender, hobbies, thought patterns, likes, and dislikes. Don't edit it until the next day and then save if for later when you begin to write your book.

Revision of the book 'The Meeting'

After months of telling myself that I will revise another one of my books, I have finally started too. The book 'The Meeting' has been in the process of revision and I am pleased to say that it is almost finished! I will leave a synopsis of the book down below.

'Branded an outcast, a monster, William travels through life completely alone. His body aching for the love he has been denied for centuries. Giving up seems like the only option for William. But... one fateful night he meets his salvation. A tantalizing tale of a forbidden romance starts to blossom. Will he be able to finally know how it feels to be unconditionally loved or will he be forever alone in darkness.'

Hello all!

Hello there! I'm back with a new pen name. I unpublished my books so I could re edit them and put them under one pen name instead of two. My other pen names were Alice Grimstar, Constantine O' Ryan, and L. Rose. I also put up new covers for the books. Hopefully they are more pleasing to the eye.
